J.C. "Johann" Van Lierop, III was raised in the heart of the Florida Panhandle in Blountstown, and his family has a long tradition in business, politics, and education in the area.
After his graduation from Blountstown High School, Johann accepted an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point. Upon graduation from West Point, he was commissioned as a United States Army Aviation officer, and served for more than 9 years as an AH-64A/D Apache attack helicopter pilot, including tours in Korea and as a commander in combat in Iraq. Among other awards and decorations, during Johann's service in the United States Army, he received the Bronze Star Medal , the Meritorious Service Medal, and the Combat Action Badge.
After his discharge from the Army, Johann attended the Levin College of Law at the University of Florida, where he graduated with honors and was a published member of the Florida Law Review. Subsequently, Johann honed his legal skills and gained valuable experience in two of the most prestigious law firms in the State of Florida.
With more than ten years of experience in the practice of law, Johann strives to provide thoughtful, conscientious, and thorough representation for each of his clients. Johann's practice experience includes, among other things, representation of institutional and private lenders, commercial litigation, representation of trustees, creditors, and debtors in bankruptcy proceedings, corporate law, commercial and residential real estate matters, collections, commercial and consumer finance, and contracts.
Johann also believes in giving back to the community, and has traditionally been active in providing pro bono services to deserving clients, with a focus on serving disabled veterans. He also provided much needed services, legal and otherwise, to the Florida Panhandle, which is still reeling from the landfall of Hurricane Michael in 2018. Johann is a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Bar Association.
He is committed to providing high-quality affordable legal services to his clients, with a pledge to work tirelessly to obtain the very best legal results possible.
Johann is also an avid football fan (Go Tigers, Black Knights, Gators, and Jags!), an enthusiastic yet terrible fisherman, and enjoys spending time with his wife, son, daughter and the family Great Dane, Earl (pictured right).
